Tricks of the mind

Isnt it weird that if we ask another person's opinion or account of an event, that two different accounts and opinions can come forth.
I started a conversation with an old friend tonight which probably wasnt prudent to start as it brought up some uncomfortable past events. Despite the cons, I have discovered this great fact at first hand.
The event occured about three years ago, but despite the time that elasped I still thought I had a grasp of what generally happened. It turns out the other person thought the same thing but had a differnt grasp of what she thought generally happened.
The above leaves me with three options. My mind has played tricks on me to produce memories that are more pleasing to me. Her mind has played tricks on her to produce memories that are more pleasing to her. Or we both have memories that are not consistent with the truth.
Who knows?
I wont ever know.

The wonders of human memory.

Full Time at New Wembley

Went to a pub in Wembley to watch the England friendly tonight. I was majorly disappointed, we should have won.
My thoughts in brief:

-Robinson was a liability.

-James should be 1st choice keeper.

-The defence was appalling.

-Kuriniyi was a major threat all throughout.

-We played in our own half too much of the time.

-Beckhams crosses were shocking in the 2nd half.

-What are Kieran Dyer and Micheal Owen doing in the England team.

Conclusion: McClaren may be getting a p45 pretty soon.

Romans 6, Traffic and Clerical errors

Good evening.

Today has been a good day. Had a rocky start, but Its worked out ok.
Had a read of Roman 6 this afternoon. It was a huge blessing. I thought it explained our status as Christians in regard to God and sin. I also think it held two great promises.
In terms of sin, verse 2 tells us we and died to it and verses 3-11 tell us why. the reason is that we are baptised into Christ and his death. We are also buried with him and raised from the dead into new life by the father's glory as Christ was. This chunk of the passage hammers the point home by telling us that our old self was crucified with Christ so our body of sin is done away with, freeing us from slavery to sin (v6-7). Verse 10 tells us that Christ died to sin once for all and that he lives to God. Verse 11 tells us to follow Christ's example and reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ. The footnote in the NKJV I was using says that reckon means that we should accept as true what God has done in Christ and let his ressurection life be a reality in our lives. A tough thing to do. Verses 12-13 gives practical advice of how to live out verse 11.
I think I will give the second installment another day. Blogging helps to meditate on these great truths.
I had a driving lesson later on in the day which was challenging. I kept on stalling in traffic and my instructor was less than pleased. I am not too bothered though. I have only been driving for 10 hours and my instructor has unleashed me on traffic.lol. My progress seems to be worrying him though as we only have 5 weeks before my test. Maybe I am been too calm about this?
I also found out that my Police application is been sent back to me because I left out a section I didnt think I had to fill in because I am doing a degree. Apparently, you are only exempt once you have a degree. Whats the difference in the long run as long as I complete my degree?
Tomorrow will be a busy day I think. I need to go on a literal mission to visit an aunt, pick up a wedding present and watch the england game. Whilst getting on top of my part time data entry work.

Life aye.

I am out of here.

Read something that made me laugh on my way to church on sunday.
It was an ad for Metropolitian Police PCSOs. At the bottom of the ad was the caption: GRASS WITH A BADGE.

No need for members of the general public to ridicule PCSOS. The metropolitian police will do it for you at task payers expense.

Dont you just love Labour Britain!

Reflection on Pslam 90

So often as christians, we relate to God as our friend, confidante and helper that we forget that the God we love and serve is an awesome, powerful, terrifying, holy and righteous God. Pslam 90 reminds us of some of these qualities, which we dont tend to dwell on too often. I dont think pslam 90 is meant to just make us pee our pants. I think its meant to make us pee our pants and by the grace of God,lead us to lives of worship and reverance. Our minds are meant to be blown by the fact, that such an awesome God would have anything to do with us, let alone be our friend.

I read something on Time online a few days ago, which excited me. It may just be crazy enough to work. Here it is:

A Clinton-Obama ticket. Newt Gingrich seems to think thats what the democrats will go for.

Since they are arch rivals at the moment, this seems highly unlikely, but who knows what the future will hold.

Clinton-Obama has a nice ring to it. Two records broken in one. The first female president and the first African American vice president. A combination of substance and style. Could possibly set the world on fire, hopefully not literally.

Will have to wait and see!
