Tricks of the mind

Isnt it weird that if we ask another person's opinion or account of an event, that two different accounts and opinions can come forth.
I started a conversation with an old friend tonight which probably wasnt prudent to start as it brought up some uncomfortable past events. Despite the cons, I have discovered this great fact at first hand.
The event occured about three years ago, but despite the time that elasped I still thought I had a grasp of what generally happened. It turns out the other person thought the same thing but had a differnt grasp of what she thought generally happened.
The above leaves me with three options. My mind has played tricks on me to produce memories that are more pleasing to me. Her mind has played tricks on her to produce memories that are more pleasing to her. Or we both have memories that are not consistent with the truth.
Who knows?
I wont ever know.
