Soppy reflections
I know I should love you,
but by the way I act it seems I dont,
I hope this doesnt mean I wont,
cause in you I have all I could want.
I am in-decisive and lukewarm,
even though many times I have been warned,
my heart is cool, only occasionally warm,
I wallow in myself ,while my rebellion you mourn.
My focus is on the things below,
whilst you are found in the things above,
I seek pleasure in the temporal,
whilst all I could be lies in your permeance.
I dream of love found with pretty women,
but what love compares to yours,
With you I could have so much more,
Instead of I am a wanderer, lost and poor.
I lie afloat in a boat without oars,
I see the helping hand which could only be yours,
My pride causes me to rebutt your assistance,
but still you remain with unimposing persistance.
In my head I know you love me,
In my heart things are otherwise,
Maybe thats the cause of my infidelity
or just plain stupidity.
It should be all about you,
but lately its been all about me,
Move, shake and captivate me,
I dont wanna be the mess I used to be.

Heyyy,
Thanks for your comment over on my blog.
In theory, I'd say insulting things about any terrorist organisation, so my blog doesn't necessarily show my feelings on the situation at the moment.
Having said that, with parents in Israel and a knowledge that all UK media is actually terribly anti-Israel biased, I'd like to think that my view is slightly more rounded than it might be otherwise. And I generally tend to be pro-Israel.
In this situation, I can't see any reason to be anti-Israel. They are defending civilians from a known terrorist organisation (Hezbollah). I have good friend who live in Haifa in the north of Israel, and they are in and out of bombshelters 5 or 6 times a day. One day in Haifa, over 70 rockets landed in just one hour.

"Looking at the situation from this viewpoint both sides are in the wrong."
I can see where you're coming from, but I think we have to be aware that the two sides of this conflict aren't two countires (Israel and Lebanon), but one country (Israel- democratic and secular) and one terrorist organisation (Hezbollah- Islamic, in temporary control of Southern Lebanon). We aren't talking about two equally valid states that "ought to know better" as they engage in conflict or diplomacy; rather one country defending itself from fierce terrorist activity. And it's something Israel does day-in-day-out. They are well used to dealing with Palestinian terror, Hezbollah, Hamas etc etc.
With that in mind, I have to wonder if they really are overreacting. Surely they know how to deal with these situations by now? The Israeli Defence Force and the Mossad (intelligence) are absolutely world-class, and they aren't like kids having a tantrum. Unfortunately, that is the picture that the media in this country would have us see and believe.
"My one absolute is that the targetting of civilians and civilian infrustructure is unacceptable in conflict."
While as I've said, I don't see this as "conflict" in a normal sense, I think you're right. But it's fair to say that Israel always claims to avoid civilian casualties/deaths, while it is Hezbollah's stated aim to cause civilian deaths. I think the balance is far outweighed, purely on the basis of intention!
Hope that's not too long and aggressive! It's good to talk.

See you soon bro,
Dan
